Unlike English, the Greek language has four words for love, one of which is storges. Being a very exact language, storges (as it was explained to me) is the kind of love you feel the instant you see ……. a puppy! Puppies add so much to life; in fact, it was one of our puppies years ago that taught our youngest son how to show the love he had kept bottled up inside. If you are interested in one of our pups, we have good news.
We have genetically tested and x-rayed Ember and Ducky. They have excelled in the show ring and are champions (Ducky is a super successfull performance dog, as well), physically sound and fine candidates for breeding.
A tremendous effort goes in to raising a litter. First and foremost, there is the love the breeder feels, the emotional bond. And then there are the sleepless nights and connections you make with the pups, the vet visits, overseeing nutrition and play, the proper socialization, the training, the expenses and both the collective and individual care. We will have done everything we can to insure that you are getting the best pup we can possibly present to you.
To this end, we insist that anyone wanting one of our pups complete an application. Personally, I am no fan of paperwork, so I understand if you do not want to do it. We will use all applications as references to make sure we place the right pup in the best home for its temperament. We are committed to making sure our pups have the kind of forever homes in which they can thrive. Many years ago, my dad (basically a sedentary guy who did not live an active lifestyle) welcomed a yellow lab from strong, active hunting lines into his home. Though the dog was beautiful, the match was a disaster as my dad lost patience with a dog that needed to go out and do things. So our application will ask about things like your lifestyle and experience with dogs. If we have a pup that has a high drive to go go go and one of our applicants needs a dog to herd sheep on a farm or wants to do agility and disc dog training, that is a potentially great match. That dog would not do well for someone looking for a cuddle buddy that is more laid back. Do you have children or expect to have children? Some dogs love kids and some dogs do not. I think you can understand why it is important that we have a profile of each prospective home.
You can contact us via email and/or phone and we will send you an application.
